Restless Nation
In 2008, while on a sabbatical year from teaching at New York University, the composer and his wife (painter Olga Hiiva) took their two kids out of school for a home-schooling year. In 2010 Teirstein completed a six-movement string quartet as an artistic reflection on the homeschooling expedition. Entitled "Restless Nation," it was premiered by the Cassatt Quartet at Symphony Space in February, 2010. The piece was also performed in February 2011 at Gramercy Park Concerts at the Brotherhood Synagogue.
